A senior executive from the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike (NASDAQ:CRWD) is set to testify before a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on September 24th regarding a faulty software update that caused a global IT outage last month.

The update led to widespread disruptions across critical sectors, including aviation and healthcare.

Adam Meyers, the Senior Vice President for Counter Adversary Operations at CrowdStrike, will address the House Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection subcommittee, according to an announcement made by the panel on Friday.

"Considering the significant impact CrowdStrike’s faulty software update had on Americans and critical sectors of the economy -- from aviation to medical services -- we must restore confidence in the IT that underpins the services Americans depend on daily," stated Representative Mark Green, who chairs the Homeland Security committee.

The subcommittee's focus on CrowdStrike stems from a July 19th incident that led to global disruptions, including the cancellation of thousands of flights, affecting multiple industries such as banking, healthcare, media, and hospitality.

The outage also impacted 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices, disrupting internet services worldwide.

Delta Air Lines, one of the hardest-hit companies, announced its intention to take legal action against CrowdStrike, citing the cancellation of 7,000 flights, affecting 1.3 million passengers and costing the airline $500 million.

However, CrowdStrike has denied responsibility for the flight disruptions.

At the time of this report, CrowdStrike's share price had risen over 2%, reaching $277.38 in afternoon trading.
