Britain's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on Friday that Amazon’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) AI partnership with Anthropic, a startup co-founded by former OpenAI executives, will not face further investigation.
The CMA concluded that the collaboration, which includes a $4 billion investment from Amazon, does not raise competition concerns under the UK's merger regulations.
"We welcome the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) decision acknowledging its lack of jurisdiction regarding this collaboration," an Amazon spokesperson stated following the regulator's ruling.
The decision also comes after the CMA cleared a similar partnership between Microsoft and Inflection AI.
Meanwhile, Alphabet’s partnership with Anthropic remains under regulatory scrutiny.
