      The Australian market closed Monday?s session 0.5% lower as a rally for metals and mining stocks offset sharp losses for the energy and industrials sectors. Suncorp shares were sold off today despite the finance, insurance and banking company launching a buy now, pay later offering called PayLater. Webjet became the latest travel company to face a sell-off today as investors fear what impact the Omicron COVID-19 variant will have on the recovering travel sector. Apple has reportedly filed numerous patents around augmented reality and head-mounted displays in a plan to start selling AR headsets by the end of 2022.
