St Barbara (ASX:SBM) forced to stop production in Touquoy next year

St Barbara (ASX:SBM) has received requests from the Nova Scotian Minister of Environment and Climate Change, in response to the environmental assessment of the proposal to deposit tailings into the Touquoy open pit.

St Barbara says any delays in approvals to in-pit tailings would trigger cessation of production early in FY24.

The Company anticipates placing operations into care and maintenance due to the time it would take to answer the Minister's questions before the capacity of the existing tailings management facility is reached.

St Barbara says it will continue to engage with the Nova Scotian government.
