Spain plans to implement the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Act in December 2025, six months ahead of the general deadline given to all 27 EU member states.

The Spanish Ministry of Economy and Digital Transformation said the move will provide legal certainty and greater protection for Spanish investors in cryptocurrencies.

Large international crypto exchanges already operate in Spain, including Coinbase and Kraken, both of which have secured the necessary registrations from Spanish regulators.

The country's central bank has also disclosed of beginning to prepare customers for the potential benefits of a digital euro.
