Adelaide casino owner SkyCity Entertainment Group posted declines in revenue and profit as it braces for the outcome of multiple regulatory compliance proceedings.

Net profit slid 1.3% to NZ$22.5 million ($21.2 million) and revenue fell 3.7 per cent to NZ$452 million ($426.4 million).

The decline in revenue was primarily attributed to a 6.8% drop in gaming machines caused by economic uncertainty.

The company has agreed to pay a civil penalty and associated costs of about $73 million to AUSTRAC for breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism laws. It is expected to pay up to NZ$8 million ($7.5 million) to New Zealand authorities over similar breaches.

SkyCity announced that Michael Ahearne will depart from his CEO post on March 8. Callum Mallett, its COO, will become interim CEO starting March 9. The process for a permanent replacement for Ahearne is underway.
