Shanghai has formally unveiled its 'Pujiang Digital Chain' project which outlines the city's comprehensive plans for a regional blockchain digital infrastructure by 2025.

The initiative seeks to strengthen Shanghai's technological foundation and promote blockchain innovation across government affairs, public services, and regional industries.

The Pujiang Digital Chain will incorporate data identification, digital payment, and supervision technologies in fostering large-scale blockchain applications.

Beijing had previously introduced its national blockchain research hub, focusing on non-cryptocurrency use cases of decentralized technology. The goal is to train 500,000 professionals to contribute to this goal.
