The Bank of Russia has expressed its support for the accelerated adoption of cryptocurrencies for international settlements.

Elvira Nabiullina, the central bank's governor, outlined that these crypto-based international payments would initially be tested within a controlled experimental environment, or sandbox, to gauge their functionality and safety.

This approach indicates a cautious yet optimistic stance toward integrating digital currencies into Russia's financial landscape for global transactions.

Meanwhile, national digital assets are set to be introduced more directly, sans the experimental phase, pointing towards a differentiated strategy in handling international versus domestic digital financial instruments.
