The head of the Russian central bank, Elvira Nabiullina, has indicated a timeline of five to seven years for the widespread adoption of the digital ruble.

This projection seems to conflict with earlier statements from the chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, who hinted at a launch as soon as next year.

The disparity in timelines suggests that despite ongoing discussions, a definitive decision on the large-scale rollout of the digital ruble will not be made before 2025.

This places the digital currency's mass introduction within a more extended timeframe than previously anticipated by some officials.
