Restaurant Brands New Zealand, the owner of KFC and Taco Bell in Australia and New Zealand, reported a 7.9% rise in first-quarter sales, totalling $333 million.
Strong growth in New Zealand and Hawaii balanced slower growth in Australia and negative growth in California.
"Cost of living pressures, driven by inflation and elevated interest rates, continue to impact consumer spending in all our markets," the company said.
New Zealand saw a 15.2% sales increase, driven by new store openings and marketing innovations, while Australia experienced a 1.4% increase to $68.9 million. Hawaii and California reported sales growth of 5.6% and declines of 4.2%, respectively, to US$41.1 million ($63.5 million) and US$26.3 million ($40.6 million).
