Despite El Salvador's status as the only country using cryptocurrency as legal tender, a CoinGecko report reveals that less than 2% of its population holds Bitcoin.

Data from Triple A shows that around 109,175 people, approximately 1.72% of the 6.36 million population, own Bitcoin in El Salvador.

El Salvador ranks 55th on the global crypto adoption index, with countries like China, where crypto is banned, showing higher ownership rates.

The report notes that in China, about 4.08% of the population, roughly 58 million people, own cryptocurrency.

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced a net profit of $3.6 million from the country's Bitcoin investments, totaling $131 million as of December 4.
