Polygon (CRYPTO:MATIC), an Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH)  layer-2 developer, has introduced its alpha testnet for Miden, a zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-rollup) solution, amid intensifying competition in Ethereum scaling solutions.

Miden, designed to enhance Ethereum's capabilities, employs cryptographic techniques to verify data without disclosing it to the network. It features client-side proving, allowing users to generate proofs for state transitions privately, aiming to improve network efficiency and privacy.

Additionally, Miden introduces private accounts for tokens and transactions, leveraging parallel transaction execution to achieve higher throughput than Ethereum's mainnet.

Planned key features include customizable smart contracts and node scripts, empowering users to write their own scripts using the Miden virtual machine.

While Miden's builders testnet is scheduled for September, its mainnet launch timeframe remains undisclosed.
