Ocean pool's transaction blacklist stirs debate in Bitcoin community

    Article Image

Ocean Pool, a bitcoin mining pool, has faced controversy for blacklisting certain transactions, specifically those related to coinjoins, Ordinal inscriptions, and BRC20 tokens.

Luke Dashjr, a prominent Bitcoin Core developer and operator of Ocean Pool, cited the introduction of measures in Bitcoin Core 0.90 to limit blockchain data storage as a basis for the pool's approach.

The bitcoin community is divided over Ocean's exclusion tactics, with some criticising the economic irrationality of forfeiting potential fees and others defending the decision as necessary for Bitcoin's integrity.
