The New York Times (NYT) has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging that they unlawfully used its content to train AI chatbots.
It accuses the firms of infringing copyright and undermining its journalistic work.
The lawsuit draws upon the US Constitution and the Copyright Act to protect the NYT's original journalism and also implicates Microsoft's Bing AI, which, it claims, creates verbatim extracts from its content.
This marks another case of a copyright infringement lawsuit hitting the artificial intelligence industry.
