Brazilian neobank Nubank has announced a partnership with payment platform Lightspark to bring the Bitcoin Lightning Network to its 100 million customers across Latin America.

This integration aims to enhance transaction speeds and reduce costs using blockchain technology.

Additionally, Nubank will adopt the Universal Money Address standard, simplifying money transfers with an email-like system built on Lightning.

Lightspark, co-founded by former PayPal president David Marcus, views this collaboration as a significant milestone for the Lightning Network, expecting it to boost overall network usage.

Nubank, backed by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway, continues to expand its cryptocurrency offerings, including trading in 14 cryptocurrencies and partnering with Circle for USD Coin access since November 2023.
