New Hope Corporation (ASX:NHC) has announced an interim dividend of $0.3 and a special dividend of $0.1 in its half year results ended January 31, 2023.

Underlying EBITDA (excluding non-regular items) increased by 87% to $1,039m, which is a record achieved in the company, likely due to strong realised prices for coal.

The coal miner says total tonnes sold for the period were 3.4 million metric tons, an increase of 34%.

New Hope Corporation also says the New Acland stage 3 mine life has been approved, and mining will begin in late 2023, with full production expected in early 2025.

The company reported strong demand for high-quality, low-emission thermal coal with a focus on growing coal operations and investing in M&A opportunities in line with NHC's strategy.
