New vehicle sales in August were the highest month since 2017.
Demand continues to outstrip supply, with electric vehicle sales reaching a record 4.4% of all new cars sold.
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries said 95,256 vehicles were sold in August - up 17.3 per cent on the same month a year ago.
It?s the strongest August since well before the COVID-19 pandemic started and also shows that car buyers are so far shrugging off the impact of rising interest rates as the Reserve Bank seeks to curb inflation.
