Southern Hemisphere Mining (ASX:SUH) has signed a drilling contract with R Munoz Drilling for the commencement of reverse circulation and diamond drilling at its flagship Llahuin Copper-Gold-Moly Project in Chile, set to begin in early October.

The initiative aims to expand the current resource of 680kt CuEq in preparation for a JORC resource update by the second half of 2025.

The drilling program will primarily focus on delineating the deeper core of the extensive Cerro-Ferro deposits, which span over a 2km strike length, to potentially increase the grade and volume of copper.

Another significant component involves advancing the large Curiosity Copper-Gold Porphyry with a potential deep diamond hole once target depth studies are finalised.

"The new drilling program represents an important step towards enhancing our copper resource and establishing the economic parameters required for future mining studies," said Southern Hemisphere Mining CEO John White.

An initial phase of reverse circulation drilling will concentrate on the near-surface Cu-Au mineralisation found in 23LHRC042, which intercepted 48m at 0.48% CuEq from the surface.

This new zone south of Ferro offers a promising opportunity to bolster the current resource with near-surface higher-grade tonnes.

Regular updates will be provided as the drilling progresses and assay results are received.

The company anticipates the first set of results by mid-November from the ALS laboratory in Santiago.

At the time of reporting, Southern Hemisphere Mining’s share price was $0.016.
