Orpheus Uranium (ASX:ORP) has commenced on-ground exploration activities at its Mt Douglas Project in the Northern Territory, following approval from the Northern Territory Government for a mining management plan.
The exploration focuses on geological reconnaissance and sampling targeting unconformity-style uranium mineralisation in line with other deposits in the Pine Creek Orogen.
The exploration program will involve geological mapping and systematic rock chip sampling to identify potential zones of uranium mineralisation.
It aims to "ground truth" anomalies identified through historical radiometric surveys.
The work will help refine the geological understanding necessary for subsequent trenching and drilling activities.
Orpheus is collaborating with the Northern Territory geological survey to undertake a locally spaced gravity survey as part of Geoscience Australia's regional survey.
The initiative will assist in identifying structurally controlled uranium deposits similar to those found in the Rum Jungle Uranium Field.
The findings from these preliminary activities will integrate with existing magnetic and radiometric datasets, enhancing the identification of key structures.
The information will inform advanced-stage exploration activities on the site.
"We are excited to commence on-ground activities within the Mt Douglas Project." said Clint Dubieniecki, CEO of Orpheus Uranium.
"The project was acquired by Orpheus on the basis that the geology and historical radiometric data shows all the hallmarks of a large and high-grade unconformity-style uranium district, similar to the Rum Jungle (Pine Creek) or Ranger (Alligator Rivers) deposits," Dubieniecki added.
