Narryer Metals (ASX:NYM) announced the initiation of an aircore drilling program at its Rocky Gully Project in Western Australia's Great Southern region.
The program targets shallow rare earth elements and high-value scandium mineralisation, following positive surface samples and historical data.
Narryer Metals' Executive Chairman Richard Bevan said, "This is a great exploration opportunity for the Company that is the result of work undertaken over the past 18 months."
"We now have an opportunity where a relatively modest program could realise significant value for shareholders through extensions of REE and Scandium mineralisation at Rocky Gully. REE carbonatites can be very high value deposits," Bevan added.
The current aircore program will drill up to 40 holes to explore extensions of existing high-grade scandium and REE mineralisation.
The efforts are supported by historical sample reassays revealing scandium oxide grades as high as 480 ppm and broad intersections of over 100 ppm at shallow depths.
In addition to this aircore drilling, a reverse circulation drilling program slated for later in October aims to probe deeper geophysical anomalies.
The anomalies have been modelled as potential sources of the REE carbonatite system, drawing parallels with successful discoveries by other resource companies in Western Australia's West Arunta region.
The Rocky Gully Project spans 79km2 and has shown promise for various minerals, including REE, scandium, nickel, and copper.
Narryer's focused exploration could position Rocky Gully as a significant scandium and REE resource in Western Australia.
