Maximus Resources has begun a 14-hole, approximately 1,500m reverse circulation drilling program at the Lefroy Lithium Project, located near Kambalda, Western Australia.
The program targets the Bird Rock and Kandui lithium prospects, part of a joint venture with Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation.
The Bird Rock prospect will undergo a maiden nine-hole, 700m drill program.
The prospect was identified through soil geochemistry sampling and ground reconnaissance, revealing spodumene-bearing pegmatites with crystals up to 20cm in length.
The more advanced Kandui prospect will see a third-phase drilling program consisting of five holes totaling approximately 800m.
The aim is to assess the continuity of mineralisation following updated geological modelling.
Prior intersections at Kandui include 6m at 1.11% Li2O and 5m at 0.77% Li2O.
Maximus CEO Gregor Bennet stated, "The Lefroy drilling program represents an exciting phase in our exploration efforts, with Bird Rock and Kandui showing significant potential for resource development."
The Lefroy Lithium Project benefits from its location in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, providing excellent infrastructure access.
Results from the drill program are expected within three to six weeks.
