Kinross Gold Corporation (NYSE:KGC) today announced a temporary halt to mill operations at its Tasiast mine following a fire incident on Monday, April 14, 2025.

The company confirmed that the fire has been fully extinguished and thankfully, no injuries were reported.

According to the company’s statement, mining operations at Tasiast are continuing as planned despite the mill disruption.

Kinross Gold is currently investigating the cause of the fire and is in the process of assessing the extent of the damage and its potential impact on the overall operation.

Initial assessments indicate that the fire was contained within the SAG discharge area of the mill.

Meanwhile, Kinross Gold stated that critical spare parts are readily available on site.

Based on this, the company currently does not anticipate any changes to its production guidance for the Tasiast mine.

The temporary suspension of mill operations will likely lead to a period of close monitoring as the investigation progresses and the damage assessment is completed.
