Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL) has unveiled a significant lithium discovery at its Prairie Lithium Project.

The company's recent exploration drilled Well #2 at Pad #1 into the Dawson Bay Formation, revealing brine samples with lithium concentrations of 60 mg/L Li.

This development marks a pioneering effort, as the Dawson Bay Formation lies beneath the Souris River Formation and had not been previously tested for lithium potential.

Following the exploration success, the Well #2 was converted into a disposal well, enhancing the project's operational infrastructure.

Both production and disposal wells at Pad #1 have been tested, surpassing expectations and delivering better-than-anticipated results compared to the company's pre-feasibility study.

Paul Lloyd, Managing Director of Arizona Lithium, highlighted the milestone's importance, "Having the first production and disposal wells installed and tested at Pad #1 is a significant milestone towards putting our project into production."

The discovery will facilitate the finalisation of the project's facility design, with construction slated for the first half of 2025.

Arizona Lithium aims to commence commercial-scale lithium production on-site in the latter half of 2025.

Further exploration of the Souris River and Dawson Bay Formations across additional Pad locations is planned in the upcoming months, ensuring continued progress in unlocking the full potential of the Prairie Project.
