Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) has begun the compulsory acquisition of Norwest Energy's (ASX:NWE) remaining shares after acquiring more than 90% of the company.

Minority investors in Norwest had sought to rally resistance to the offer, arguing that MinRes was underpaying for the company, which has 20% of the duo’s Lockyer Deep gas discovery in the Perth Basin.

The partners are preparing to spud their next well in their $100M six or seven-well program, North Erregulla-1.

Following the announcement, shares of Norwest Energy were unchanged at $0.056.
