Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), the parent company of Facebook, has announced plans to develop artificial intelligence technology tailored specifically for Europe.

As the company revealed on Monday, this initiative aims to incorporate linguistic, geographic, and cultural nuances unique to the European Union.

To create these large language models, Meta intends to utilize content publicly shared by users on its platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.

According to Meta's top policy executive, the AI training will involve only public posts, deliberately excluding private interactions to safeguard consumer privacy.

Additionally, Meta disclosed last month that it would begin informing users in the European region and the United Kingdom about the use of their public data.

This effort is part of the company's transparency measures in developing and enhancing AI technologies through user-generated content on its services.
