Nikita Andreevich Sklyuev, also known as Valeriy Dorojkin, has been extradited from Ukraine to Buffalo, NY, where he faces charges of wire fraud and unauthorised access device fraud.

The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that Sklyuev submitted a malicious cryptocurrency wallet app, "EOSIO Wallet Explorer," to the Apple App Store in 2018.

The app, disguised as a legitimate wallet, instead stole users' private keys, allowing Sklyuev to access and transfer approximately $11.8 million in cryptocurrency from a victim in Western New York.

Sklyuev's extradition was facilitated by international cooperation with Romanian and Ukrainian authorities.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, pending a detention hearing scheduled for July 3, 2024.
