Blockchain start-up Scroll has confirmed the successful launch of its mainnet, following more than two years of development.
The new release is part of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM), and batch processes thousands of transactions off-chain, before providing Ethereum’s mainnet with a proof consisting of a minimal data summary.
The launch follows a 15-month testing period, which included three testnets and the deployment of 450,000 smart contracts.
The start-up's zkEVM circuits were also audited by a range of companies including OpenZeppelin and Zellic.
Scroll detailed its current product has centralised features, but affirmed of its plans on becoming increasingly decentralised over time.
