Latitude Financial has “apologised unreservedly” on news almost eight million Australian and New Zealand driver license numbers were stolen in a cyber attack on the company on the 16th of March.
The attack is now one of the largest reported data breaches in Australian history, and also includes the theft of 53-thousand passport numbers, and 100 customers who had a monthly financial statement.
Latitude initially reported around 330-thousand ID documents were stolen, but the size of the breach has eclipsed last years’ Medibank breach, but not quite Canva’s of 2019, when 140 million customers were affected.
The lender is continuing to work around the clock to safely restore its ops, and will return to business as usual in the coming days.
