Last week saw significant gains across the cryptocurrency market, with the total market capitalisation rising to $2.55 trillion, an increase of over $150 billion.

The overall market sentiment shifted from fear to greed, highlighting the optimism among investors.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), while not the top performer, led the charge with an 11% increase.

Starting its ascent on July 14, BTC reached as high as $68,000 before encountering resistance and settling below $67,000

This impressive recovery contributed to a broader positive sentiment in the market, as reflected by a Greed score of 74, a significant rise from last week's Fear score of 33.

Meme coins dominated the list of best-performing cryptocurrencies over the past seven days.

Leading the pack was POPCAT (CRYPTO:POPCAT), a cat-themed meme coin, which surged by 60%.

Following closely was DogeWifHat (CRYPTO:WIF), up by 53%, PEPE (CRYPTO:PEPE) with a 33.6% increase, and FLOKI (CRYPTO:FLOKI), which rose by 33.4%.

These meme coins showcased the speculative fervor and popularity they continue to enjoy among investors.

Amid the meme coin rally, Arweave (CRYPTO:AR) and Core (CRYPTO:CORE) also posted impressive gains, rising by 40% and 37%, respectively.

Other notable mentions include INJ, BONK, JUP, RUNE, TAO, and Mantra (CRYPTO:OM), each recording around a 30% increase.

The broad-based rally saw most cryptocurrencies enjoying positive returns, with only a few exceptions.

UNI, AAVE, TRX, TON, ADA, and EGLD were the only altcoins to finish the week in the red, albeit with minimal losses.

UNI was the worst performer, down by just 5%.

The overall bullish trend highlights a strong market recovery, with investor sentiment turning decidedly positive.

Last week's performance emphasises the volatility and rapid shifts characteristic of the cryptocurrency market, driven by both speculative assets and fundamental developments.
