Karoon Energy (ASX:KAR) has confirmed that its PAT-1 well, the second well in the Patola field in Brazil, is producing more than 12,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
In combination with the PAT-2 well, total output in the BM-S-40 license now surpasses 40,000 bopd.
Production rates are expected to decline over time, leveling at an estimated 33,000 to 35,000 bopd.
Karoon Energy's CEO and MD, Dr Julian Fowles, says the flow rates being seen from both wells are materially above original expectations: "Overall well flow rates are gradually stabilising on the FPSO, with total throughput now approaching the FPSO's nameplate processing capacity of 80,000 barrels of fluid per day."
