Rodney Burton, known as "Bitcoin Rodney," has been denied bail by U.S. District Judge Richard Bennett amid accusations of orchestrating a massive cryptocurrency fraud totaling $2 billion.

Arrested at Miami International Airport earlier this year, Burton faces charges including conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business.

Prosecutors argued against bail, citing Burton's alleged plans to flee to Dubai, as revealed in recorded conversations discussing ongoing cryptocurrency activities despite legal consequences.

The judge highlighted Burton's past convictions and the severity of the fraud allegations as reasons for denying bail, emphasising concerns about flight risk and potential harm to others.

No trial date has been set as the case unfolds.
