Job mobility in Australia has reverted to pre-COVID levels, with around 8% of employed individuals changing employers or businesses in the year leading to February 2024, down from 9.6% in 2023.

Mobility declined across genders and age groups, notably among men. Younger workers remained more mobile, though less so than during the peak of the pandemic, according to the  Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The sales and community service sectors saw the highest mobility rates, while declines were notable in the arts and transport industries.

Challenges persist for job seekers, with many citing high competition and insufficient experience as barriers to employment.
