      A number of companies kicked off the week with acquisition announcements that impressed investors.

      Breville Group jumped 5% today after announcing the completion of its acquisition of Italian-based prosumer coffee group, LELIT.

      And Kalamazoo Resources also jumped 3% today after the base metals explorer announced it has acquired the 1609? Mt Piper Gold Mine Project from Coda Minerals to expand the company?s Victorian portfolio.

      A rise in oil prices on Friday boosted energy stocks on the ASX today, but this may be short lived as oil prices slide again this afternoon amid renewed fears of a global recession.

      The ASX as a whole closed Monday?s session more than 1% higher driven by the surge in energy and gold stocks.
