HMC Capital has invested in Stor-Energy, a specialist in utility-scale battery energy storage systems.

This marks the inaugural investment by HMC's energy transition platform, which aims to build a 15GW portfolio across energy sectors, including wind, solar, and emerging technologies.

The initial investment, with additional funding over three years, totals up to $50 million to secure a majority stake in Stor-Energy.

The investment will support Stor-Energy's 1.4GW development portfolio, which is expected to cost around $2 billion and include six utility-scale battery energy storage projects in Australia's national electricity market states.
