Latitude Financial is working around the clock to contain hackers on its systems which have so far affected 330,000 of its customers and applicants personal information, including from drivers’ licences, passports, and medicare.
The consumer finance group says the cyberattack, first detected last Thursday, is highly sophisticated, and is being investigated by the Australian Federal Police, whilst leading external cyber security experts have been engaged.
Latitude also says it’s likely to uncover more stolen information affecting both current and past customers, and not-for-profit organisation IDCARE is offering free and confidential help to those impacted in Australia and New Zealand.
The incident follows well-publicised breaches on Optus and Medibank, and may be one of the first major data breaches on a financial services company in the country on record.
The Group remains in a trading halt.
