Greenpeace USA released a report accusing major financial institutions on Wall Street of enabling carbon-intensive Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) mining through significant investments.

The report highlights top financiers like BlackRock and Vanguard for their role in funding Bitcoin mining operations, contributing to substantial CO2 emissions equivalent to those of hundreds of thousands of American homes.

Greenpeace argues that these institutions, despite their green agendas, lack transparency in disclosing the climate risks associated with their investments in the crypto mining industry.

Additionally, the report criticises Bitcoin miners for greenwashing their environmental impact and advocates for regulatory measures like the Digital Asset Mining Energy (DAME) tax to address the environmental and social costs of Bitcoin mining operations in the United States.
