Environmental defence organisation, Greenpeace, has criticised the approval of several spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) products.

Greenpeace claims this approval signifies a problematic change in the financial services industry's attitudes towards pollution caused by Bitcoin.

The nonprofit organisation is of the opinion that financial companies, such as Blackrock and Fidelity, endorsing such a Bitcoin ETF should consider the environmental implications of their actions.

Essentially, Greenpeace believes this development implies a compromise on the climate and society driven by the financial industry's adoption of Bitcoin.
