Google Cloud's recent launch of a Web3 portal, featuring testnet tools and blockchain resources for developers, has sparked discussions within the crypto industry.

While some, like Mitroplus Labs founder Ivaibi Festo, commend the portal as a comprehensive resource, others express disappointment, citing the absence of native Bitcoin and Lightning support.

The portal offers tutorials on NFT development, Web3 loyalty programs, and asset security with multi-party computation, aiming to support developers in building decentralised applications on Ethereum testnets.

Google's expansion into the Web3 space follows recent developments, including features enabling users to search wallet balances across multiple blockchains and policy updates allowing certain crypto products to be advertised on major search engines.

Partnerships and integrations with projects like MultiversX and the addition of 11 blockchain networks to Google's BigQuery data warehouse in 2023 indicate the company's strategic focus on supporting Web3 initiatives.
