Gold Hydrogen has announced an operational update on its Ramsay 1 well, the first natural hydrogen exploration well in Australia.

Drilling commenced on 11 October, with the surface drilling completing successfully and the well cased off at 220m.

Following this, the drilling encountered a system of faults and natural fractures which could serve as pathways for hydrogen to migrate from its source.

While delays have arisen due to these fractures, there were elevated levels of hydrogen detected while drilling the Parara Formation, supporting the company's work towards discovering Australia's first natural hydrogen field.

Further drilling and testing are still on-going.
