Fisker is recalling 7,545 Ocean electric SUVs because of a water pump defect that may cause a loss of power, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.

This recall is one of several recent setbacks for Fisker, following three similar actions in June and the company's filing for bankruptcy protection last month amid financial strains from escalating production efforts.

The NHTSA detailed that a communication breakdown with the cabin electric water pump could prompt the high voltage battery management system (BMS) to switch to limp mode, resulting in a loss of drive power.

In response, Fisker has committed to replacing the defective pumps at no charge to owners to resolve the issue.
