Dow Jones holding on to record highs, ASX futures lower ahead of the open

The Dow Jones fell 0.1% to finish the trading day down 23 points to close at 30,937 points as tech companies including Microsoft begin to report earnings.

Earlier, markets in Europe had a strong session as London's FTSE rose and the DAX also gained.

Asian markets are set to open lower with ASX futures pointing down 26 points (-0.4%).

The Australian dollar is weaker against the major currencies and is buying 77.51 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,856 per ounce with copper up 0.14% to US$3.641/pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$52.77 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$54.9/barrel.

The spot iron ore price remains above US$150 per ton trading at US$169.78 and one bitcoin is worth US$32,236 going into the Asian trading day.
