The Dow Jones fell 0.46% to finish the trading day down 144 points to close at 31,392 points following Monday's rally in the key S&P500 and Nasdaq benchmarks.
Earlier, markets in Europe had a strong session as London's FTSE rose and Germany's DAX gained.
Asian markets are set to open higher with ASX futures pointing up 16 points (0.3%) ahead of the open in Sydney.
The Australian dollar is stronger against the major currencies and is buying 78.25 US cents.
Gold is trading at US$1,747 per ounce with copper down 0.61% to US$4.12/pound.
WTI Crude oil is selling for US$60.64 per barrel while Brent oil is unchanged at US$62.22/barrel.
The spot iron ore price remains above US$150 per ton trading at US$165.61 and one bitcoin is worth US$47,716 going into the Asian trading day.
