Dow Jones closed up 1.8%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

The Dow Jones rose 1.8% to finish the trading day up 618 points to close at 34,640 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London's FTSE fell 0.6% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day lower, down 1.4%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 23 points (0.3%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 70.93 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,769 per ounce with copper up 0.01% to US$4.299 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$67.43 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$70.54 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$100 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$56,958 going into the Asian trading day.
