Dow Jones closed up 1.1%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

The Dow Jones rose 1.1% to finish the trading day up 383 points to close at 35,927 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were mixed as London's FTSE fell -0.66% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher, up 0.15%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 40 points (0.6%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 71.7 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,777 per ounce with copper down 1.75% to US$4.18 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$71.47 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$74.35 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$108.5 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$48,890 going into the Asian trading day.
