    Dow Jones closed up 1.1%, ASX futures down ahead of market open in Sydney

    The Dow Jones rose 1.1% to finish the trading day up 382 points to close at 35,295 points.

    Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London's FTSE and Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher.

    Asian markets are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 35 points (-0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

    The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 74.18 US cents.

    Gold is trading at US$1,767 per ounce with copper up 0.02% to US$4.721 per pound.

    WTI Crude oil is selling for US$82.28 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$84.86 per barrel.

    The spot iron ore price is trading at US$115 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$60,188 going into the Asian trading day.
