Dow Jones closed up 0.7%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

The Dow Jones rose 0.7% to finish the trading day up 261 points to close at 35,754 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London's FTSE and Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 39 points (0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.15 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,803 per ounce with copper up 0.01% to US$4.392 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$73.09 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$75.65 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$122 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$49,122 going into the Asian trading day.
