    Dow Jones closed up 0.7%, ASX futures down ahead of market open in Sydney

    The Dow Jones rose 0.7% to finish the trading day up 247 points to close at 36,585 points.

    Earlier, markets in Europe were mixed as London's FTSE fell -0.25% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher, up 0.86%.

    Asian markets are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 88 points (-1.2%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

    The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 71.9 US cents.

    Gold is trading at US$1,801 per ounce with copper down 0.86% to US$4.425 per pound.

    WTI Crude oil is selling for US$75.99 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$78.92 per barrel.

    The spot iron ore price is trading at US$116 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$46,069 going into the Asian trading day.
