Dow Jones closed up 0.3%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

The Dow Jones rose 0.3% to finish the trading day up 96 points to close at 36,398 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were mixed as London's FTSE fell -0.02% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day higher, up 0.81%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 39 points (0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.3 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,806 per ounce with copper down 0.64% to US$4.444 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$76.00 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$79.00 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$119 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$47,618 going into the Asian trading day.
