    Dow Jones closed down 1.9%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

    The Dow Jones fell 1.86% to finish the trading day down 652 points to close at 34,484 points.

    Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London's FTSE fell 0.7% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day lower, down 1.2%.

    Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 23 points (0.3%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

    The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 71.28 US cents.

    Gold is trading at US$1,774 per ounce with copper down 0.01% to US$4.278 per pound.

    WTI Crude oil is selling for US$66.94 per barrel while Brent oil is lower at US$70.57 per barrel.

    The spot iron ore price is trading at US$99.5 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$57,088 going into the Asian trading day.
