Dow Jones closed down 1.2%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

The Dow Jones fell 1.23% to finish the trading day down 433 points to close at 34,932 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London's FTSE fell 1.0% while Germany's DAX finished the trading day lower, down 1.88%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 6 points (0.1%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 71.11 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,791 per ounce with copper down 0.07% to US$4.288 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$68.23 per barrel while Brent oil is lower at US$72.04 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$113 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$47,062 going into the Asian trading day.
